أوضحت المخرجة إيناس بكر، أن الأطباء قد نصحوا عمر الشريف بإجراء العملية منذ شهر ديسمبر الماضى ولكنه فضل تأجيل العملية لحين انتهائه من تصوير فيلم إشاعة واحدة لا تكفى ولكن قبل بدء التصوير شعر عمر الشريف بآلام شديدة، ووجد أنه لا يستطيع تأجيل العملية لذلك سافر يوم 2 فبراير لباريس لإجراء العملية.
يذكر أن النجم عمر الشريف قد قام بإجراء نفس العملية منذ حوالى 15 عاماً ولكن كانت فى الفخذ الأيسر.
